White House confirms Donald Trump’s visit to India on Feb 24-25
The United States President Donald Trump and First Lady Melaina Trump will visit India on February 24 and 25. The dates were confirmed by the White House on Monday with a formal announcement. The Ministry of External Affairs in India has also confirmed that preparations are underway for ‘Kem Cho, Trump’ (Howdy Trump just like Howdy Modi held last year in the US). The President will visit Ahmedabad and Gujarat apart from New Delhi.
The confirmation comes a day after India’s new ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu presented his credentials to the Trump. Sources claim that the informal talks will be held in the Sabarmati waterfront walkthrough in Gujarat.
On the other hand, the White House in its statement said, “The President and The First Lady will travel to New Delhi and Ahmedabad, which is in Prime Minister Modi’s home state of Gujarat and played such an important role in Mahatma Gandhi's life and leadership of the Indian independence movement.”
The White House further tweeted, “President @realDonaldTrump & @FLOTUS will travel to India from February 24-25 to visit Prime Minister @narendramodi! The trip will further strengthen the U.S.-India strategic partnership & highlight the strong & enduring bonds between the American & Indian people.”
It may be noted that the preparations in India for the President’s visit have already been underway for some time now. The American security teams along with their scanners and security equipment have already reached India and are working on the security arrangements.
