Wg Cdr Abhinandan get new posting in Rajasthan

Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, hero of Balakot Air strike, has been posted in Rajasthan’s Suratgarh Air Force Base. Wg Cdr Varthaman was in Pakistan’s captivity for nearly 60 hours when he ejected from his MiG-21 following an aerial dogfight with Pakistani F-16 and fell on the other side of the border in February.
He joined his duty in Rajasthan on Saturday.
Not divulging much detail, an IAF officer only confirmed that Wg Cdr Varthaman has been posted in Rajasthan. However, Suratgarh sources reveal, “The base has MiG-21 Bison aircraft, but it is not clear whether he would be back to flying. Going by the norms, a pilot is grounded once he ejects.”
