Vidya Balan speaks up against body-shaming in video; Garners hits
A video of actor Vidya Balan addressing the issue of body-shaming is doing rounds on social media. The video with the #DhunBadalKeTohDekho went viral within no time.
The video starts with Vidya wrapped in a black and gold check dupatta singing, ‘kabhi tu moti kehta hai, kabhi tu chhoti kehta hai...’, ‘naam bhool jaiga, nai nai nicknames se bulayega...’and more and gradually shows up in messy makeup with tears rolling her down her eyes.
She further speaks about how people rebuke a person’s body, eyes, skin tone, height and more leaving a scar on his/her life. At the end of the two minute 40 second video, Vidya discards her video standing confidently in black and white striped saree sending across the message of ‘no more body shaming’.
The video is gaining a lot of attention from both men and women. A male viewer wrote that body shaming is not gender oriented. He stated, “Ladkon ko bhi body shaming se guzarna padta hai. It is not just for women. I want to empower all my bros to stand up for themselves too.”
Another male viewer tweeted, “Inspirational video. Vidya Balan is changing the opinion of people for body shaming. This is a great step forward...I am glad that somebody is working on it.”
Another girl tweeted, “You are an amazing person Vidya not only one of the best actress. Take a bow Lady!!”
The actor herself has faced a lot of criticism for her body type in the recent past.
