Ujda Chaman makers move to court against Bala producers; hearing starts today
Makers of Sunny Singh starrer Ujda Chaman – producer Kumar Mangat and director Abhishek Pathak - have moved court against the makers of film Bala over striking similarities in the content. The first hearing of the case is being held today at the Bombay High Court. Bala has been directed by Amar Kaushik and Dinesh Vijan and has Ayushmann Khurrana as the protagonist.
Both the films revolve around the same subject – premature baldness. Pathak and Mangat are seeking a stay on Bala’s November 7 release. The movie, Bala, was originally set for a November 22 release but was preponed to November 15 before setting in finally for November 7.
Pathak said, “There can be two films around the same subject within a short span, but in this case, there are striking similarities in both the films and the original copyrights are with me.”
He also claimed that the makers of Bala are more ‘anxious’ than him and that is the reason they changed the release date from November 22 to November 15 and now to November 7 – a day before Ujda Chaman is scheduled for a release.
Pathak said that he spoke to the makers of Bala when he came to know about their making of the film. “I told them that we have the rights to make this film. And they said their storyline was different, but looking at the trailer, it doesn’t seem to be so.”
Pathak said that the trailers have received an enormous response from the audience and so will the film once it releases.
