UAE woman seeks divorce to play PUBG
A woman in her early 20s in UAE has come up with a rather atypical reason for seeking divorce -courtesy PUBG. The PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS (PUBG) is a battle royale shooter game that pits 100 players against each other and the young wife spends hours playing the game on the mobile which has become the bone of contention between the two.
Captain Wafa Khalil Al Hosani, the director of the social centre at Ajman Police, said that the woman came to the centre seeking help and justified reasons saying she was playing with her friends and relatives and that it was well-within limits as the chat option was not opened for strangers. Interestingly, she also argued she was being deprived of her right to choose her means of entertainment as she derived pleasure and comfort from the game. She also said that her husband was keeping her away from the game thinking she might neglect her duties as a wife
However, her husband who sounded rather concerned said that he had been discouraging her from playing the game as she could get addicted to it. He added that his opposition was not a matter of suppression of freedom in any way and he did not expect things would take such a serious turn. He told the cops that he did not expect his wife to seek a divorce.
