Two month pregnant dalit girl gangraped in Rajasthan, lover commits suicide

An eight-week pregnant Dalit girl was raped by five men in Rajasthan’s Banswara district following which her lover committed suicide. The accused were produced in court on Monday.
The 19-year-old girl was two month pregnant when she was commuting from Banswara town to her village with her lover on a bike around 10 pm, on July 13. On the way, the couple was stopped by three drunken men – Sunil, Vikas and Jitendra, who attacked the boyfriend with iron rods and snatched his mobile and forced him to leave the spot.
The three men then took the girl to an isolated place and raped her before taking her to Sunil’s village where they called two more of their friends – Naresh and Vijay, who also took turns to rape her. After the incident, the accused left the girl on the road at around 4 am on July 14. The victim left the place and informed no one about the incident.

On the other hand, the lover on reaching his village hung himself from a tree within a few hours for not being able to save her from criminals. The incident came to light when the police was investigating boyfriend’s suicide case. Police tracked the lover’s mobile which helped them reaching to Jitendra. Being in the custody, Jitendra soon spilled the beans.

The police then reached the Dalit girl who was undergoing medical termination of pregnancy as the fetus did not survive after the incident. A case of gang-rape, abduction, abetment to suicide under SC/ST Act has been lodged.
