Trump: After cable leaks US will no longer deal with UK
Upset with the way the lead of confidential telegrams and emails has been dealt with by United Kingdom’s Prime Minister and Ambassador to the US, US president Donald Trump on Monday saying US will no longer deal with UK. The cables’ publication were published in a Sunday newspaper barely a month after Trump went back home from Britain.
During the UK visit, Trump was honoured with a 41-gun salute welcome at Buckingham Palace and a banquet dinner with the queen. Meanwhile, the UK has been making efforts to reduce and manage damage control in which UK envoy to US Kim Darroch described the US leader as ‘inept’ and his White House ‘Uniquely Dysfunctional’.
Referring to the Brexit negotiations that were clumsily handled by UK PM Theresa may and her envoy Darroch, Trump said, “I have been very critical about the way the UK and Prime Minister Theresa May handled Brexit. What a mess she and her representatives have created. I told her how it should be done, but she decided to go another way. I do not know the Ambassador, but he is not liked or well...”
He, however, added that UK will soon have a new Prime Minister, which is good news for the nation.
Interestingly, May’s office called the leak ‘unacceptable’ but also added the ‘PM has full faith in her ambassador to Washington’, informs a report.
