Shots fired in Shamli, UP during first phase of LS polls

Security forces guarding a polling booth in Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli fired rounds in the air when unidentified persons allegedly tried to force themselves into the booth without ID cards during the first phase of 17th Lok Sabha polls on Thursday.

The news was confirmed by district magistrate said, BSF personnel fired in air for security reasons after some people without voter ID tried to cast vote. Voting has resumed now."

Reports said that the incident occurred in Shamli’s Kandhla area when the persons tried to capture the booth and cast votes forcibly.
