Rajasthan Speaker seeks explanation from Sachin Pilot for skipping party legislative meet
Rajasthan Assembly Speaker CP Joshi on Wednesday issued an explanatory notice to former state Deputy Chief Minister (Dy CM) and Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Chief Sachin Pilot and 18 others for skipping the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) meetings held recently. They have been asked to submit a reply within two days (July 17).
The news was confirmed by Congress in-charge Avinash Pande who acknowledged Pilot’s efforts to bring the Congress back in power in Rajasthan and confirmed that Pilot was not joining the BJP.
Pande tweeted on Wednesday, “The party’s doors have not been closed for Pilot. May God give... good sense and he realises his mistake. I pray that he comes out of the elusive trap of BJP.”
The meeting was held on Monday and Tuesday in Jaipur to iron out internal rift between the Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Pilot. Several party bigwigs such as Randeep Surjewala, Ajay Maken and Party General Secretary for Rajasthan Congress Avinash Pande attended the meeting along with over 102 party MLAs.
In a related development, the Maharashtra Congress suspended Spokesperson Sanjay Jha ‘with immediate effect’ for ‘anti-party activities and breach of discipline’.
Notably, Jha had justified Pilot’s actions and tweeted, “For five years Sachin Pilot gave his blood , tears, toil and sweat for the Congress party between 2013-18. The Congress came back from a wretched 21 seats to 100. We just gave him a performance bonus. We are so meritocratic. We are so transparent.”
Soon after Jha was suspended, he posted another tweet on Wednesday morning stating, “First, Jyotiraditya Scindia. Now, Sachin Pilot. Who next? Watch this space!” putting stern remark on the party’s working ethics.
