PM Modi, Rajnath Singh mark Armed Forces Flag Day
The three wings of Indian Forces – the Indian Army, the Indian Air Force and the Indian Navy celebrate Armed Forces Flag Day today in honour of soldiers, airmen and sailors who fought to protect the nation. The day is being observed since 1949.
To mark the day, several events and programmes are being organised by the three wings displaying the efforts initiated by them towards national security.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted a 58-second video of the three military branches and also tweeted, “On Armed Forces Flag Day we salute the indomitable courage of our forces and their families. I also urge you to contribute towards the welfare of our forces.”
Earlier, on November 24, in the 59th edition of Mann Ki Baat, the PM spoke about the significance of Armed Forces Flag Day and paid homage to the courageousness of the forces. He also urged people to contribute for the welfare of the personnel and their families.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh too urged people to contribute to the fund and extend every possible help for the well-being and welfare of India’s ex-servicemen.
The objective of the Indian Armed Forces Flag Day is to raise funds for the welfare of the war-widows, martyrs’ children, war-disabled soldiers, and ex-servicemen.
