Pankaja Munde creates sensation with FB post to decide ‘future journey’
BJP’s Pankaja Munde created a sensation after she put up a post on her social media page on Sunday calling a meeting of her supporters from across the state on December 12.
Her post in Marathi stated that with the changing face of the political scenario in the state, it is necessary to think over and decide the future course of action. She said that she needed some 8-10 days to introspect before finalising her next move and how she could best serve the people, assess her strength and weakness.
Pankaja also said she would present her decision to her supporters on December 12.
The post has created a flutter among the BJP quarters as Pankaja is said to have good relations with Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and is the cousin of NCP leader Dhananjay Munde. In the recently held assembly elections, Pankaja fought against Dhananjay and lost to him.
Sources said that the BJP leaders are taking the post quite seriously as there are chances of her quitting the party. If this happens, the BJP could suffer a big jolt as Pankaja has a stronghold among the communities of Other Backward Classes (OBCs).
December 12 also happens to be the 70th birth anniversary of her father and former state deputy chief minister Gopinath Munde.
