Pakistan orders seizing personal assets, travel ban of JeM chief
Pakistan has officially instructed concerned officials to freeze all personal assets and impose a travel ban on JeM chief Masood Azhar after the UNSC titled him a ‘global terrorist’ on Wednesday that also restricts him from selling or purchasing arms and ammunitions.
Pakistan’s foreign ministry issued a notification saying, “The Federal Government is please to order that the Resolution 2368 (2017) be fully implemented against Azhar.”
The government directed officials to take actions “as appropriate for the implementation of sanctions” said a report.
The Pakistan foreign office spokesperson Mohammad Faisal said that Pakistan would “immediately enforce the sanctions imposed on Azhar”.
It may be noted that the US, the UK and France had proposed to designate Azhar “global terrorist” in the UNSC 1267 Al Qaeda Sanctions Committee in just before the February 14 Pulwama terror attack. China gave its consent to blacklist Azhar on Wednesday after which the process of imposing the ban has commenced.
