Out on parole, lovelorn killer of sister hangs self

Memories of infamous Sunderban Kohinoor Marriage Garden at Lalghati, in which a lovelorn shot his doctor cousin on the day of her wedding, have revived as the accused was found hanging at his home on Wednesday morning.

Anurag alias Gagan Namdev, 30, was serving life imprisonment for cold-blooded murder and was out on parole and staying at his native place Garakota, Sagar, where the incident occurred. The parole ended on Wednesday and he had to report back to the central jail at 5 pm the same day.

Recalling the incident that left the marriage party aghast, Anurag was in one-sided love with his maternal sister Dr Jayashree, who was a postgraduate student of Gandhi Medical College, and shot her dead during the varmala ceremony. He was seething within since the time he heard of her marriage with her fellow doctor. The incident took place on May 8, 2014.
