#MeToo: Anu Malik denies allegations, says he is in ‘dark space’
Music composer and Indian Idol season-11 judge Anu Malik has written an open letter addressing all the #MeToo allegations against him. It may be noted that last year the composer was ousted from Indian Idol due to the allegations laid against him by Sona Mohapatra and other women who had earlier worked with him.
The letter read, “It has been over a year that I have been accused of something that I haven’t done. I have been silent all this while as I was waiting for the truth to surface on its own. But I realise that my silence on the matter has been misconstrued as my weakness.”
The letter also added, “Ever since the false and unverified allegations were levelled against me, it has not only ruined my reputation but affected me and my family’s mental health, left us traumatized and tarnished my career. I feel helpless like I am being cornered and suffocated.”
Malik further wrote, “It’s disgraceful that at this age, at this stage in my life I have to watch the most slanderous words and horrifying incidents being associated with my name.”
The composer thanked the well-wishers who have been with him through this phase and concluded the letter saying, “But behind this happy face, I’m in pain. I’m in a dark space.”
On his return as the judge in the reality show a few days ago, singers Sona and Neha openly objected to his return to the music reality show.
