KBC: MP’s Charna Gupta is season 11’s first to reach Rs 1 crore question
Labour inspector from Beohari, Madhya Pradesh, Charna Gupta became the first to reach Rs 1 crore question in the reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) season 11 hosted by megastar Amitabh Bachchan. The nail-biting episode was aired on Monday with a new set of contestants for the week.
Gupta, however, had lost all her lifelines by the time she reached question 15 worth Rs 1 crore keeping the audience glued to their seats.
Content with Rs 50 lakh that she won, Gupta decided to quit the show without answering the question which read, “In 1944, the Battle of Kanglatongbi was fought near which present-day Indian state capital?” Four options as possible answers - Itanagar, Imphal, Guwahati and Kohima - cropped up the screen. But a not-so-confident Gupta decided to quit.
Later, when host asked her which option she would have gone ahead with, she replied Imphal, which happened to be correct and would have made her the first crorepati of the season.
During the show, the megastar asked Gupta about her personal life and she went on to reveal that her mother, who was a polio patient and a Treasury officer and it was her mother who identified a young assistant treasury officer working in her office as a suitable match for her daughter. She encouraged both the youngsters to meet and understand each other and soon they took a liking for each other and got married. Charna said it was her mother who has been a tremendous source of inspiration for her while her husband is her support system.
