Kangana Ranaut refuses to bend before scribes’ guild; Says ‘Ban me if you can’
A day after the Entertainment Journalists’ Guild of India banned actor Kangana Ranaut after a verbal spat with a media person, the actress hit back with a video message calling journalists names like ‘chindi’, ‘10th fail’, ‘sasti’ and even ‘deshdrohi’. Kangana posted two videos from her sister and manager Rangoli Chandel’s twitter account in which she says that media persons have been earning their bread due to her booming career.
The first video is of two-minute 14 seconds while the second one is about two-minute 20 seconds. Dressed in pearly white salwar kameez she said in a husky voice (she is down with viral), “Though I owe my success to some in media, I am aware of pseudo-liberals and those with low integrity who often attend press conferences and functions to get free food.” She questioned most scribes’ –especially Rao’s – educational qualification and go crazy over Rs 50-60.
Recalling the incident, there was an unpleasant episode between the actress and a PTI scribe Justin Rao during the song launch Wakhra Swag from the black comedy Judgementall Hai Kya took place on July 7. Producer of the film Ekta Kapoor and the movie’s entire star cast including Rajkummar Rao were present at the event. She accused Rao of running a smear campaign against her and writing negatively about her film, Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi.
The guild met Ekta Kapoor seeking a public apology from both the production house Balaji Telefilms and the actress. However, an apology note was posted on the telefilms’ social media handle, which was accepted by the Guild, but the actress went out saying ‘ban me if you can’.
