Indian team fans looses hope with an inch mark; Kohli clogs up under pressure

India lost miserably to New Zealand in the first semi finals of 2019 ICC World Cup at Old Trafford on Manchester on Wednesday. While there was moisture in the air and nip off the pitch, the Indian order had a tough time with the Kiwis’ masterful swing bowling.
On the other hand, Indian cricket fans were upset with Virat Kohli for his poor performance and decision making ability under pressure. One of his worst decisions in the match against Kiwis was to drop Mahendra Singh Dhoni to number seven in the batting order and putting young batsmen Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik ahead of him.

Even when Captain Virat Kohli played well through the tournament, he failed to showcase the talent in a knock out match. In fact, the 30-year-old has poor performance in all the three World Cup semi-finals he played in – 2011, 2015 and 2019. In the 3 games he earned only 11 runs, which clearly shows that he fails to perform in big matches.

It is a known fact that Kohli is a non-performer when it comes to playing under pressure. Meanwhile, wicket-keeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who was criticized throughout the tournament for his poor strike rate, took the responsibility and remained on the crease making a partnership of 116 runs with Jadeja. But, Jadeja was sent back to the pavilion after 77 runs off 59 balls and with this, all eyes went onto Dhoni.
Mahi’s run-out in the 49th over with an inch mark left the hopes broken and Black caps secured the position in the World Cup finals.
