Hyundai launches India’s first fully electric SUV ‘Kona’ in New Delhi
Hyundai Motor launched India’s first fully electric SUV at an introductory price of Rs 25.3 lakh (ex-showroom) in New Delhi on Tuesday.
The Hyundai Kona Electric is presently available in metro cities- Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. It offers a range of 452 km/charge. About 80 per cent of its lithium-ion polymer battery can be charged within 57 minutes using Direct Current quick charger, using CCS type-II charging port, while a 7.2 KW level II AC wall box charger charges the car in six hours and 10 minutes. Similarly, the SUV can be charged by plugging a 2.8 KW portable charger into a normal wall socket and it take 19 hours to charge using the in-cable control box (ICCB).
The South Korean auto major’s Kona boasts of state-of-art features like bridge type centre console, leather wrapped steering wheel and seats, soft touch dashboard and comes with an additional ‘driver only’ air cooling system. The electric Kona comes in five colour schemes - phantom black, polar white, marina blue, typhoon silver and polar white with black roof. Its dual tone colour option is also available at an additional rate of Rs 20,000.
The SUV is made of ultra-high tensile strength steel and offers high impact energy absorption during collisions. The cabin is especially designed to disperse energy to reduce impact. It has six airbags, has electronic stability control, provides vehicle stability management and comes with much more facilities and standard safety features on board, says a report.
