Hrithik-Tiger starrer War tops chart with over 166 crore collections in first five days

Hrithik Roshan & Tiger Shroff starrer action thriller War has become the first film to cross Rs 50-crore mark on day one. The film was released on October 2 in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi and took full advantage of the extended weekend fetching a massive box office of Rs 166.25 crore in the first five days. On Sunday itself, the film earned Rs 36 crore and could draw another whopping amount on Dusshera holiday. 

Siddharth Anand’s War was released in around 4,000 screens in India. War is the fifth of Yash Raj Films to cross the Rs 100-crore club at the box office within three days of its release. The other four include Dhoom 3, Sultan, Tiger Zinda Hai and Thugs of Hindostan.
Trade analysts predict that the film could possibly become 2019’s biggest film with no big banners scheduled for an immediate release though Akshay Kumar's Housefull 4 which is expected to be another record-shattering film is scheduled for a Diwali release.

The last film to become the highest day-one grosser was Thugs of Hindostan (TOH), starring Amir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, which grossed Rs 47.28 crore at the box office. The other all-time day-one grosser include Bharat (Rs 42.10 crore), Baahubali: The Conclusion (Rs 40.50 crores) and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (38.03 crores).
