Howdy Modi gets thumping response from Indian-American community in Texas
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mega-event ‘Howdy Modi’ at the NRG stadium in Texas evoked a thumping response from over 50,000 Indian-Americans on Sunday. The event was organised by Indian-Americans and was attended by US President Donald Trump which was a display of dimensions of India-US bonding. It is also being witnessed as a successful diplomatic move held between the two countries.
PM Modi was welcomed amidst cheers and that went on for a very long time. During his 50-minute speech, the PM spoke about India’s strengths –demography, diversity, democracy, economy and more.
Addressing the massive gathering, PM said, "We are competing with ourselves, challenging ourselves, changing ourselves and that is why we are on the path of development. We are aiming high and we are achieving higher.”
He also took a jibe on Pakistan without mentioning its Prime Minister Imran Khan. He stated emphatically, "It is a breeding ground for terrorism. Be it 9/11 attack in USA or 26/11 attack in Mumbai, the perpetrators of the acts have been found in that one country and the time has come to take a tough stand against terrorism.”
The PM also justified the effective scrapping of Article 370 and termed it as an instrument which had both impeded Jammu and Kashmir’s development and aided terrorism.
Lastly, he announced that on October 2, India will bid farewell to open defecation. The PM later left for New York to address the United Nations General Assembly to participate in another multilateral and bilateral engagement.
