Gautam Gambhir sends defamation notice to AAP leaders accusing him distributing vulgar pamphlets
Gautam Gambhir, contesting Lok Sabha elections from East Delhi on BJP’s ticket, has sent defamation notice to three AAP leaders, including Delhi CM, for accusing him of distributing ‘vulgar, derogatory and ‘casteist’ pamphlets against AAP’s East Delhi candidate Atishi Marlena in her constituency.
Atishi held a press conference on Thursday accusing Gambhir of distributing pamphlets. She vehemently asked “Mujhe sirf itna puchna hai ki agar mahila ke baare mein aesi baat likh sakte hai toh Delhi ki mahilayo ki suraksha ki jimmewari kaise le sakte hai?”
In response to this, the cricketer-turned-politician Gambhir sent the notices to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, his deputy Manish Sisodia as well and demanded unconditional apology from the AAP leaders. He tweeted, “All this for winning elections? U r filth Mr CM and someone needs ur very own Jhadu (broom) to clean ur dirty mind.”
Another of his tweets said, “I declare that if it’s proven that I did it, I will withdraw my candidature right now. If not, will u quit politics?”
In a series of tweets that followed, Gambhir accused Kejriwal for outraging a woman’s modesty and that too his own colleague.
He also told media personnels, “I have two daughters and I respect women. I have clarified my stand. How can someone stoop to this level?”
Delhi goes to poll in the sixth phase on May 12.
