Former Chhattisgarh CM Ajit Jogi’s son Amit booked for giving false details in state polls
Former MLA and former Chhattisgarh chief minister Ajit Jogi’s son Amit was arrested from his home in Bilaspur on Tuesday morning for furnishing false details in his 2013 assembly poll affidavit. Amit has been arrested under Sections 420, 467, 468 and 471 of Indian Penal Code.
It may be noted that a BJP leader from Marwahi Sameera Paikra filed a complaint against Amit at the Gorela police station on February 3 alleging that Amit mentioned his birthplace as Sarbahra, Gorela and date of birth as 1978 in his election affidavit, when he was actually born in 1977 in Douglas, Texas. The HC later had dismissed her petition saying the assembly’s tenure had already expired.
Ajit Jogi in response to the arrest said that it was the outcome of political vendetta. He said that everyone is aware that Amit was born in America and the High Court has offered him relief in the place of birth row.
Incidentally, the Bilaspur police registered a non-bailable case against former CM Ajit Jogi after a state government committee declared that former CM Ajit Jogi was not tribal. He has been booked under section 10-1 of Chhattisgarh Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes (Regulation of Certification of Social Status) Rule with Civil Lines Police station on Thursday night.
Amit will be produced in a court soon and action will be taken as per the orders of the court.
