Five CRPF jawans martyred, 1 militant killed in Anantnag shootout
Five Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans were martyred and four other security personnel were wounded during a militant attack in Anantnag district of South Kashmir on Wednesday. During the ambush at KP Chowk, Cheegali, near general bus stand, a militant was killed by security forces and an AK rifle recovered from him.
The CRPF issued a statement saying that the CRPF troops of 116 battalion of Bravo Company and the state police were fired upon by suspected vehicle-borne terrorists while two motorcycle-borne militants fired at a patrol party of the CRPF on the busy KP Road with automatic rifles and hurled grenades.
The injured jawans have been shifted to the 92 base hospital.
