Declare Abhinandan Varthaman’s tashes as ‘national moustache’, says Cong leader Adhir Chowdhury
Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury in the Lok Sabha on Monday mooted in the lower house that Wing Commander Abhinandan, who chased Pakistan’s F-16 with MiG 21 Bison during Balakot air strike early this year, be honoured and his swashbuckling tash, now a trademark, be made national moustache.
He said, “Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman must be awarded and his moustache be made national moustache.”
However, the proposal evoked mixed responses from different social media platforms. Some rebuked the idea saying it was the most absurd thing they have seen on the Indian parliament floor. Another microblogger said, “National Moustache?? What else next- National beard? BTW Why Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury himself not sporting the Abhinandan moustache.”
It may be noted that since Wing Commander’s return from Pakistan after the air strike, his hairstyle and gunslinger moustache have become a new fad among men of all age groups in the country. Not only this, a salon in Bengaluru is giving Wg Comm Varthaman moustaches and hairstyle service to its customers for free.
