Covid-19 crosses 12k mark; Delhi reports decline in fresh cases

On Thursday, confirmed COVID-19 cases in India reached the 12,380 mark with 10,477 active cases and 414 deaths.  

As per the statistics given by the Union Health Ministry, Maharashtra continued to report the highest number of cases in the country with 183 new cases, and, thus taking the state’s toll of positive cases to 2,916 mark. Similarly, Tamil Nadu touched 1,242 mark of confirmed cases while Gujarat and Rajasthan also soaring to 766 and 1,023 mark respectively. In a major development, Delhi is seeing a decline in the number of Novel Coronavirus cases being reported. On Thursday, there were only 17 confirmed cases that came to the fore taking the total score to 1578. 

However, Madhya Pradesh continues to report surge and now the total number of patients has reached 987 with 53 total deaths. 

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued guidelines for the extended period of nationwide lockdown. The ministry made face masks compulsory and allowed relief to rural areas by allowing agricultural and poultry to function by maintaining social distancing norm. It also allowed certain sectors like the IT, government office, etc.. to function with limited staff.
