Backed by Kamal Haasan, Rajnikanth to make political debut soon
Megastar Rajnikanth may make his political debut soon and launch his political party to contest the state assembly elections in 2021. He will have the backing of South Indian star Kamal Haasan’s 2018 Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) which is also working to make a mark in the 2021 assembly elections.
Rajnikanth’s political debut is happening at a time when Tamil Nadu is going through a political depression after the demise of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) President M Karunanidhi and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) Chief J Jayalalithaa.
Both Rajnikanth and Kamal Hassan have been sending out indications of joining hands. Rajnikanth said, “If a situation arises wherein I and Kamal have to join hands for the welfare of the people of Tamil Nadu, we will surely come together.”
Haasan supporting Rajnikanth’s statement said, “There is nothing new in us joining hands as we have been united for the past 44 years.” The two stars have worked together in several movies.
Haasan made an offer of a political tie-up to Rajnikanth which the latter accepted sending the heavyweight politicians of Tamil Nadu in a frenzy as the two superstars have massive fan-following. However, in the past few months, there have been talks of Rajnikanth being in touch with BJP leaders that posed him to incline towards the saffron party.
