Audi launches mighty and sleek Q8 in petrol-only SUV segment
Audi’s latest addition to its family of cars in the SUV segment, Q8, was launched on Wednesday with a price tag of Rs 1.33 crore (ex-showroom India). The petrol-only SUV was launched by Audi India head Balbir Singh and Indian skipper Virat Kohli in Mumbai. The SUV will be imported to India as a fully built unit and there will be only 200 such units on the offer. Interestingly, Kohli was also the first buyer of the latest launch.
The Audi Q8 model is powered by a 3.0-liter TFSI engine that generates 340 Hp and 500 Nm of torque. It is capable of touching triple-digit speeds in 5.9 seconds and is mated to 8-speed Tiptronic gearbox. Design-wise, the car has a single frame octagonal grille, with headlights that flow into swell in the upper fender and the flare of the fender starts midway on the door. On the whole, SUV Q8 is a sleek model with sharper and sportier design compared to its rival BMW X6.
On the inside, the car has a driver-focused cockpit design and there are customized contour seats with massage function and ventilation. The car comes with a host of other features including a dash with two touch screen units. The 10.1-inch unit has navigation controls and infotainment system whereas the one placed below has an 8.6-inch screen and displays car functionalities like air-con and heating.
The designers of Q8 have also kept safety measures as a priority. It has 8 airbags, Audi Park Assistant and an electronic stabilization programme for the benefit of those driving.
The SUV’s first look was revealed in 2019 in Shenzen, China. The launch of Audi Q8 promises the beginning of a power-packed year for those who love to drive.
