Around 90 stray dogs found dead in Buldhana district
A case under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960 and the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered on Sunday against unidentified killers after about 90 street dogs were found dead at Girda-Savaldabara Road in Maharashtra’s Buldhana district. The strays were found with a muzzle and tied-up limbs.
The incident came to light when foul odour due to decomposing carcasses filled the area and the villagers approached Police Patil. The forest officials were also informed.
Police sources revealed that the strays were probably picked up from the city limits, killed, and their carcasses dumped in the forest area.
Forest officials said that the exact cause of the death of the dogs would be known once they receive the post-mortem reports. Meanwhile, they also said that they would be questioning the dog catchers for clues.
