Angrezi Medium gets slow start owing to Coronavirus; to re-release at later date
Entire Bollywood industry is seeing a slump owing to the health crises that have taken over in the form of Coronavirus. While people are refraining from going to cinema houses fearing contracting the disease, several filmmakers have postponed the release of their films like Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi and Kabir Khan’s 83.
Several state governments including Delhi have issued orders to shut school colleges and cinema halls owing to the deadly virus. This was a day after Homi Adajania’s Angrezi Medium released on March 13. This has led industry experts including trade analyst Taran Adarsh to express their fears that the film will suffer heavy losses.
Owing to the risk of suffering box office collections, Adajania has decided to re-release the film at a later date. Taking to Instagram, Adajania said, "At midnight all theatres will close across India till the authorities give us further notice. We will re-release Angrezi Medium when it is safe to do so. Till then stay safe and be kind to each other."
The movie is about a male widower in Udaipur, Champak Bansal (Irrfan Khan) who is ready to go any length to fulfill his daughter Tarika’s (Radhika Madan) wishes to get enrolled to an institution in London.
The film also stars Kareena Kapoor, Deepak Dobriyal, Dimple Kapadia and Pankaj Tripathi in pivotal roles
