Amitabh Bachchan, Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Gulabo Sitabo woos audience on digital platform
Amitabh Bachchan, Ayushmann Khurrana starrer, Gulabo Sitabo is set in the backdrop of Lucknow and revolves around a shrewd Mirza (Amitabh Bachchan) who owns Fatima Mahal - a haveli which is over 100 years old. Though the house is in shambles, it has several families staying in it as tenants and paying a meager sum of Rs 30-Rs 70 as rent. But the 78-year-old Mirza is most upset with his tenant Baanke Rastogi (Ayushmann Khurrana) who refuses to vacate the place or pay the rent saying ‘main gareeb hoon’. Mirza somehow thinks that Baanke has all intentions of taking over the haveli and he has his reasons to think so.
And from here Shoojit Sircar’s satire moves ahead and successfully keeps the audience engrossed till the end. The makers of the film have taken all care to give a realistic picture of Lucknow’s ancient city’s charm. The director made it a point to pan the camera in a manner that took an account of the typical Lucknow-culture such as the attire, mannerisms, way of interaction and even the tuk-tuks and rickshaws plying on the narrow lanes.
The hilarious dialogues, written by Juhi Chaturvedi, are worth mentioning. The story is beautifully interwoven leaving almost negligible gaps. The movie moves steadily except for a couple of moments where the movie seems to drag.
On the music front, all the songs have quirky tunes and the lyricist Shantanu Moitra has once again managed to come up with meaningful lyrics. The audience is sure to enjoy the songs kya Leke Aayo Jagme and Budhau.
The comedy drama Gulabo Sitabo – the first to get a direct digital release – is fetching rave reviews. The movie released today had a user rating of 7.4 on the IMDB.
