3 dead as crane falls on of Kamal Haasan’s ‘Indian 2’ crew members
In a tragic incident, three people lost their lives while nine others got injured when a crane with heavy-duty light came crashing down on the sets of Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 ongoing shoot at EVP Film City in Poonamallee, Chennai. Haasan and filmmaker Shankar, who was also standing close by, escaped unhurt.
The deceased have been identified assistant directors Krishna and Madhu and one from the catering team Chandran.
Expressing his anguish over the incident, Haasan later posted on the microblogging website, “Although I have met and overcome several accidents, the mishap that happened today is brutal. I stand alone having lost three of my comrades. More than my pain, the anguish of their families will be several times more. I partake in their anguish as of one among them. My deepest condolences to them.”
In another tweet, he wrote about those undergoing treatment at the private hospital, “I have spoken to the doctors there. The injured have been provided first aid and steps to provide appropriate treatment are being taken. Let the dawn bring us to hope that these people will make a swift recovery.”
Actor Kajal Aggarwal who also escaped narrowly offered her condolences to those who lost their lives. She tweeted, “In so much shock, denial, trauma from the monstrous crane accident last night. All it took was a fraction of a second to stay alive and type this tweet. Just that one moment. Gratitude. So much learning and appreciation for the value of time and life.”
Indian 2 is a sequel to the 1996 vigilante drama Indian, also starring Kamal Haasan in the lead. It is being bankrolled by Lyca Productions.
