Shane Watson’s ‘Royal’ Reunion : Chennai Super Kings beat Rajasthan Royals by 64 runs

On 20th April, Shane Watson marked a century for the Chennai Super Kings against team Rajasthan Royals. Five years back on 22nd April 2013, Watson scored a century at the Chepauk playing for Rajasthan Royals against Chennai Super Kings.

In both matches, Chennai Super Kings won the match, though, this was a resounding win. A reunion wasn’t to be this way, at least for the team Rajasthan Royals. One could draw parallels with Chelsea’s stellar 4-0 win over the team’s boss Jose Mourinho on his return to Stamford Bridge sourcing the bonding between the club and their successful manager, now being a part of rivals Manchester United. Despite losing the match, no such relationships were affected even when Watson’s successful association of 8 years came to an end with the Royals team while he is still playing his passion.

On their return to IPL 2018, Royals replaced Watson with Ben Stokes coming with a similar profile and joining the franchise at almost same age as of Watson in 2008.

Shane Watson's 'Royal' Reunion

36 year old Watson was honored with the ‘player of the tournament’ award during Rajasthan Royals’ victorious campaign in the inaugural event of IPL. On his astounding innings on Friday, Watson admits that he had a little bit of extra motivation against his ex-team, he isn’t bitter by any stretch.
