Microsoft opens the Garage in Hyderabad - Garage innovation site | Garage India

On Monday, Technology giant Microsoft officially inaugurated the ‘Microsoft Garage’ at India Development Centre (IDC) in Hyderabad. It will be a great platform for Microsoft employees that encourage an experimentation culture and believe in exploring new ideas at workplace. The innovation Garage is spread across the area of 8000 sq.ft. equipped with all modern tools and facilities like laser cutters, 3D printers, PCB milling machine, and more. This will give a platform to the employees to share their work passion to the organization. Other areas the company is actively looking at includes drones, artificial intelligence, future realities, internet of things, quantum computing, robotics & ecosystem interface, and technology and arts. Covering such a huge real-estate in the city, the Garage will be recorded on places to visit in Hyderabad list. The garage was inaugurated by Information Technology Minister of Telangana K. Taraka Rama Rao. Partner Director of Microsoft Garage, Jeff Ramos; Corporate Vice President, Cloud & Enterprise, Managing Director of Microsoft India Pvt. Ltd., Anil Bhansali; Corporate Vice President, Artificial Intelligence & Research, Microsoft Global, T. K. Rengarajan; and Director of Microsoft Garage India, Reena Dayal Yadav also marked their presence for the inaugural ceremony of Garage in Hyderabad.
Microsoft Garage has been divided into three different lab sections, namely, Hub, Makerspace, and Advanced Makerspace. The Advanced Makerspace is equipped with advanced machinery that can be accessed only under the supervision of a lab assistant. There is no specific closing and opening timings of the garage; thus, employees can work on their passion projects with no time restrictions.
Interestingly, Microsoft had joined several major tech players coming to Hyderabad with a purpose to expand its innovation potential and startup ecosystem. Following the advancing innovations from all Indian centres, Microsoft is also planning to setup a Garage in Bangalore as well, which will be operational by the end of this year.
