IPL 2018: MS Dhoni becomes fifth Indian to reach 6000 T20 runs

Here comes another feather to Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s cap. Former Indian captain MS Dhoni scored 6000 in T20 match series on Friday. Dhoni capped the feather during Chennai Super King’s match against Delhi Daredevils in IPL 2018 at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium, Delhi. He became the fifth Indian to complete 6000 runs in 290 T20 cricket matches. Other top Indian batsman to score more than 6000 runs include Suresh Raina (7708 runs), Virat Kohli (7621 runs), Rohit Sharma (7303 runs), and Gautam Gambhir (6402 runs).

West Indies’ devastating batsman Chris Gayle is on top of the highest runs list in T20 matches with 11436 runs under his belt. The Jamaican has 21 centuries and 50 half-centuries to his name in T20s.

New Zealand’s Brendon McCullum is second in the list with 9119 runs in 335 matches at an average of 30.70.

Dhoni reached the landmark as he hit a single off an Amit Mishra delivery in the 13th over of the CSK innings. The Jharkhand-born batsman who has been in splendid form this season, found it tough attacking the Delhi bowlers as the Chennai franchise incurred a rather unexpected defeat against the capital franchise.
